I have the honour to transmit for your

consideration the enclosed copy of a letter from the Captain

Superintendent of Police regarding six vacancies for Warders

in Victoria Gaol, together with the usual papers of Particu-

2. Mr.May states that no suitable candi-

dates for these posts are forthcoming in the Colony, and begs

that six men be selected from the Prison Services in England

and Scotland.

3. I concur with Mr.May's recommendations

and have the honour to request that the Crown Agents be in-

structed to make the necessary enquiries with a view to se-

curing the services of the class of men desired.
